Farm Trip Whangara, Term 2

            1. Farm trip at Whangara

2. The cold air was so freezing cold i had to drag my jacket over my head and even that was a struggle to do in the wind that blew so hard it made you numb all over  Andrew and Renee told about seeds like Croksfoot , lotus, plantain, rye, e.c.t.

3. We trudged along in our gum-boots into the plantain field all of us were shivering. the majority of us crouched down so that we could look for, four-leaf clover. I found 4 of them very sadly 3 of them blew away when i was distracted or showing someone the clover.

4. All of the girls in our class jumped back into our mini-bus and drove along to Pa Rd to look at what the river and it's water had done to the earth surrounding the river. The water had eaten into the ground and you could see it very clearly from where we were on the bridge.

5. Then we went to the woolshed were they shaved and bundled up the wool thay had collected from the sheep. I can not believe that they expected us to sit on the pooey sacks of wool and eat our lunch!
it was so disgusting i couldn't stomach any food or water otherwise I probably would of puked all over my marmite samwich, so i just stumbled around holding my stomach.

6. On the car ride back to school us girls were practicing our kapa haka songs and solos. most of us were singing wildly and loudly while the rest of us just sang quietly to ourselves. the farm trip was so wet and cold but still a great experience.

Here Renee tells us about the different grass types and how they work and what they do on their farm. She also told us about the trials they do.

Our Visit With Lisa, Term 2 ,Farming

     Our Visit with Lisa...

Dr Lisa Hulme-Moir ( the vet ) came to our school today, she told us about cows milk, diseases, blood cells ( white and red) , illness spread through bulls and rams , and there was even a picture of the inside of an Elephants stomach!.

Lisa told us about all this "stuff" because we had/are learning about farming and agriculture. we went to Angus Allan's ( go check out his blog...) farm called Pukemata  to test some soil and grass, sheep, and cattle. My favourite animal there was a sheep Max H (go have a look at his too!)  and I named llama.

It was so interesting, that time actually ran away from us it was meant to be a 30 minute talk but ended up being an hour and a half!. Such a cool experience for everyone, wish it could of been longer!!!:).
Here are some pictures from her visit:

Here she tells us about the kinds of jobs and things she does, look at animals, does blood tests,
and generally just check up on them. She also said that one of her co-workers did some work on an ginormous elephant from Auckland Zoo, the image made everyone squeal and feel queasy.

This Photo ( bottom right ) is from the end of her visit with us we wanted to remember this visit with her. And we also wanted to learn some information and put into our seeds' R 'us  work and to put it in our blog. -Sophia

Term 2 goals of the week

Term 2, this term we are having another goals of the week, and i have been trying to focus more on my work and answers more than just focusing on the background and colour and looks, and just getting my work done on time so that I can better marks and do better at my next school. Our goals are very detailed and we take time every Monday morning to start and finish our new goals. How it works: We get given a new quote every monday morning and we write what it means to us and we make new goals and reflect on the goals from the week before.
